Modular SCR Systems for Data Centers: Clean Backup Power with Emission Control
Looking for compact, low-emission backup power solutions for your data center?
The Challenge: Backup Power in a Changing Regulatory Landscape
Modern data centers are growing rapidly in size, complexity, and importance.
Whether powering AI, banking, or cloud infrastructure, they rely on uninterrupted power. But emergency generators come with a downside: NOx emissions and noise pollution.
As environmental regulations tighten worldwide, data center operators must balance reliability with sustainability and compliance. To help them meet these demands, we offer a solution that addresses these challenges. That’s where we come in.
As data centers continue to grow in complexity and criticality, one factor becomes increasingly clear: efficiency, flexibility, and environmental responsibility are no longer optional—they are essential.
At H+H Engineering, in close collaboration with our partner Nießing, we’ve been working on integrated solutions that support the technologicalevolution of data centers—without compromising sustainability.
Our Solution: Containerized SCR-Silencer Systems
Together with Nießing, we’ve developed a fully integrated, container-based SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system—purpose-built for data center environments. It provides advanced emission control, noise reduction, and a space-saving footprint.
Key Benefits:
✅ >90% NOx reduction to meet and exceed EU and international emission standards.
✅ Nießing silencers to control low-frequency noise with minimal back pressure.
✅ All-in-One integration: SCR reactor, silencer, dosing system, urea tank, pumps, compressor, and control cabinet—pre-installed in one compact container.
✅ Plug-and-play design: Ready to deploy with minimal installation time.
✅ Modular and scalable for growing data center campuses.
✅ Compatible with HVO and alternative fuels, future-proofing your investment.
This solution enables data centers to implement sustainable emergency power strategies—with zero compromise on performance or uptime.
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is a proven solution for reducing NOx emissions. A urea-solution, 32,5 or 40% (known as AdBlue in the automotive industry) is injected into the exhaust stream, where it converts to Ammonia – NH3, this reacts with nitrogen oxides on the SCR catalyst, breaking NOx down into harmless nitrogen (N₂) and water vapor (H₂O).
Advantages of H+H SCR Technology:
✅ >90% NOx reduction – regardless of the fuel type used
✅ Flexible integration – customized solutions for new builds and retrofits
✅ Energy-efficient & low maintenance – minimal operating costs, maximum sustainability
Proven in Practice: Emission Control in Action
Our containerized SCR systems have already been deployed in real-world data center environments. One recent project demonstrates how the entire unit fits into a compact footprint while maintaining full access for service and maintenance.
Inside the container: Integrated control systems, dosing units, and pump sections are neatly arranged to maximize operational efficiency.
